Performance Recognition Award: Officer Richard Tombello
Windwalker was pleased to award Officer Richard Tombello a Letter of Recognition under Windwalker’s PERFORMANCE RECOGNITION AWARDS.
On Saturday, January 22nd at approximately 0200, Officer Richard Tombello notified his account manager, Robert Cruz, about a critical seawater pump alarm notification. This alarm, generated by the Metasys system, monitors all vital wet lab settings. A seawater pump failure could disrupt sensitive experiments and conceivably end years of experimentation and data if Officer Tombello did not take immediate direct action.
After assessing and reviewing the situation with Project Manager Robert Cruz, Officer Tombello contacted the facilities manager Russ Ahlgren to begin recalling maintenance workers to address the problem. During this time, with the seawater pump out of service, the issue became so severe that the water troughs that provide the cooling water ran empty. Maintenance arrived at approximately 0400 and initiated corrective action.
Thanks to Officer Tombello’s attention to detail, calm demeanor, and quick action of notification, he prevented the potential of significant disruption of operations. Through his great judgment and dedication to service, Officer Tombello brings great credit to himself, his family, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Windwalker Group!
